Lesson Plan Supplemental Materials

I created a  lesson plan geared towards helping children on a preschool level to have a better understanding of a computer and its devices. We explored how we can use them in our everyday life, in the classroom and what they can help us accomplish. Children also explored the components of a computer, develop new vocabulary, create an email, take pictures, make videos, and create computer artwork.
The common core standards addressed during this lesson plan were;
Topic: Initiative and Curiosity;
Ask questions to seek explanations about phenomena of interest.
Seek new and varied experiences and challenges (take risks).
Topic: Planning, Action and Reflection ;
Develop, initiate and carry out simple plans to obtain a goal.
Use prior knowledge and information to assess, inform, and plan for future actions and learning.
Topic: Expression of Ideas and Feelings through the Arts;
Express individuality, life experiences, and what he/she knows and is able to do through a variety of media.
Topic: Persistence;
Carry out tasks, activities, projects or experiences from beginning to end.
Focus on the task at hand even when frustrated or challenged.
Topic: Attention;
Focus on an activity with deliberate concentration despite distractions.

The first supplement I will use is a pre-assesment to help understand what my children already know about a computers and to develop vocabulary for the lesson.

The second supplement I will use is a online coloring book I made for my preschoolers to color in as an activity.

The third supplement is an online multiple choice quiz I will assist my students in taking to determine if they properly understand what a computer can and cannot do.
